Chess960
The back rank is shuffled into one of 960 starting positions.
Both sides start from the same shuffled position, so it stays symmetrical. Bishops always sit on opposite colours and the king always sits between the rooks. Castling still exists and finishes on the usual squares no matter where the king and rook began. Opening theory is worth nothing here.
