Lance
Both rooks can only move straight forward.
A lance never retreats and never moves sideways, so committing it is permanent. It is far weaker than a rook but it makes a pawn push behind it genuinely frightening. Castling is off.
What changes
The board does not start the way standard chess does.
Standard chess: Classical chess. Checkmate the king.
